About Mero

Mero is a digital platform that provides personalized meal planning, macro-based nutrition guidance, and meal preparation tools for consumers, offered through the Mero website and the Mero mobile apps for iOS and Android. Different parts of the Service collect different information, as described below, depending on whether you use the website, create an app account, or subscribe.

Information We Collect

On the Mero website, we collect your email address when you join the waitlist or contact us. We may collect a name only if you choose to provide one when you respond to a confirmation message or contact support.

In the Mero app, we collect account and access information such as name, username, email address, password or authentication credentials, and Apple or Google sign-in identifiers if you choose to use those sign-in methods.

We collect subscription and purchase state, such as whether you are on a free trial or paid subscription, your renewal and expiration status, and restore-purchase activity. This information is provided to us through the applicable app store and our subscription and entitlement provider. We do not collect or store your full payment card details; payment is processed by the app store.

We collect the contents of support requests and account-deletion requests you send us, including the email address and any details you provide so we can respond and act on the request.

To provide meal planning and nutrition features, we may collect nutrition and profile inputs including age or age range, biological sex for basal metabolic rate calculations, height, weight, goal, target rate of change, activity level, training frequency, macro preferences, dietary preferences, food exclusions, allergies, budget sensitivity, cooking skill, prep time availability, and meal frequency.

We may also collect plan and usage data, including generated meal plans, recipe selections and swaps, grocery lists, prep plans, daily meal completion, substitutions, deviations from plan, weekly adherence rate, missed meals, skipped days, plan adjustments over time, and engagement signals such as plan generation frequency.

Like many digital services, we may collect device and technical data such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, log data, errors, and crash information.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to operate the waitlist, provide and improve the Service, create and adapt meal plans, generate grocery lists and preparation guidance, manage subscriptions, free trials, and restore-purchase requests, maintain account security, communicate with users, respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests, troubleshoot technical issues, analyze product performance, and comply with legal obligations.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share personal information only in the following circumstances: with the service providers described below who process data on our behalf to operate the Service; with the app stores and our subscription and entitlement provider, to process and verify subscriptions; when required by law, legal process, or a valid government request; to protect the rights, safety, and security of Mero, our users, or others; in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy; and with your consent or at your direction.

We may also create and use de-identified or aggregated information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, for purposes such as analytics, research, and improving the Service.

Automated Processing

Mero uses automated systems and rule-based calculations to turn the information and preferences you provide into macro targets, meal plans, grocery lists, and preparation guidance. The app itself does not run on artificial intelligence; your plans are produced by standard, deterministic computation rather than AI. Separately, as a company, we may use AI-assisted tools internally to build and improve features and to analyze data. Where those tools process personal information, they act as our service providers under contract and may use it only on our behalf. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for others to train their own AI models. Automated outputs may be incomplete or unsuitable for your circumstances, and you remain responsible for reviewing them before relying on them.

Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking Technologies

On the Mero website, we use cookies and similar technologies, including privacy-conscious analytics, to operate the site, remember preferences, understand how the site is used, and improve it. In the Mero app, we and our service providers use similar technologies and device identifiers for analytics, performance, and security. You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can limit certain mobile identifiers through your device settings. Some features may not work properly if you disable these technologies. Because there is no common standard for "Do Not Track" signals, we do not currently respond to them.

Third-Party Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to operate, improve, and support the Service, including hosting providers, app stores, subscription and entitlement services, analytics tools, communication platforms, and AI-assisted tools we use internally to build and analyze the Service. These providers may process data on our behalf in accordance with their own privacy policies and our agreements with them. Examples include the Apple App Store and Google Play (which process subscriptions and payments), RevenueCat (subscription and entitlement management), Cloudflare (hosting and content delivery), and Klaviyo (email and waitlist). These providers are permitted to use your information only to perform services for us, not for their own independent purposes.

Marketing Communications and Notifications

If you join the waitlist or opt in, we may send you product updates and marketing emails. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email or by contacting us. We may still send you non-marketing messages about your account, subscription, security, or support requests. If you enable push notifications in the app, you can turn them off at any time in your device settings.

Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain business and billing records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and support security. Waitlist information is retained until you ask us to remove it or until it is no longer needed. When you request account deletion, we process it as described in our data deletion policy; some records may be retained where permitted or required.

Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access or know what we collect, to request correction of inaccurate information, to request deletion, to request a copy of certain information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no need to opt out of that. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected], or use the in-app account-deletion request where available. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and you may use an authorized agent where the law allows. You may also unsubscribe from marketing at any time, and you can manage or cancel a subscription through your app store subscription settings.

Health and Wellness Information

Some of the information you provide, such as weight, biological sex, goals, and dietary restrictions or allergies, relates to your health and wellness. You provide this information voluntarily so Mero can personalize your plan. It is self-reported wellness information used to operate the Service; it is not medical record information, and Mero is not a covered entity under HIPAA. We treat this information as sensitive and use it only for the purposes described in this Policy.

Minors' Privacy

Mero is intended for users in the United States who are at least 18 years old. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a minor, we will delete it.

International Users

Mero is operated for users in the United States, and information we collect is processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your location.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information, including access controls and encryption in transit where appropriate. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above shows when it was last updated. If we make material changes, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as by posting a notice on the website or in the app or by email.
